Coppery titi monkey Copper has given birth to a single offspring at Colchester Zoo, with the mother and baby both doing well. The birth follows Copper's arrival from Belfast Zoo in January 2024, with the father Lewis being a zoo-born resident.

Endangered Golden Arrival

Colchester Zoo's golden lion tamarin family has welcomed a new offspring born on 29th April 2026, currently bonding closely with mother Freia and older sister Esme. The healthy baby is part of the zoo's conservation efforts for this endangered species.

CZS welcomes endangered chimpanzee arrival

Colchester Zoo has welcomed Jessie, a 26-year-old female chimpanzee, who arrived from Welsh Mountain Zoo as part of an EEP breeding recommendation. The zoo hopes Jessie will form a bond with resident male chimpanzee Napoleon.

CZS Supports The Civet Project

Colchester Zoo is supporting The Civet Project on World Binturong Day (May 9th, 2026) by donating 10p from each coffee sold at selected outlets to protect vulnerable species in the wild. The zoo houses two binturongs, Teddy and Cecilka, as part of conservation efforts.

Bailey the Lion

Colchester Zoo has announced the passing of Bailey, their 18-year-old male African lion, who was put to sleep on March 11th due to age-related health conditions. Bailey had been under continuous veterinary care and observation by keepers throughout his decline.
