Blair Drummond's Barbary macaque troop supports European conservation breeding programme

The park's Barbary macaque troop, which arrived from Gibraltar in 2014 as part of a population management programme, continues to thrive and contribute to the European endangered species breeding programme. Barbary macaques are listed as Endangered, with wild populations now found only in Morocco and Algeria, facing threats from habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and illegal wildlife trade.
