Twycross Zoo advances Western lowland gorilla conservation through EAZA breeding programme

The arrival of the mother-and-son gorilla duo represents a key milestone in Twycross Zoo's contribution to the EAZA Ex-Situ Programme, which aims to create genetically viable populations of endangered species in zoo care as a safety net against wild extinction. The zoo has successfully bred 8 Western lowland gorillas since the 1960s and hopes this arrival will lead to future births.
