Black-tailed godwit breeding programme receives £650k funding boost for UK recovery

WWT has secured £650,000 from Natural England's Species Recovery Programme to expand captive breeding and release efforts for black-tailed godwits, a species reduced to fewer than 40 breeding pairs in the UK. The funding will support hatching and rearing chicks at WWT Slimbridge before releasing them into the wild, alongside RSPB research into population dynamics and implementation of a national action plan.
