Chester Zoo releases 800 lesser Bermuda snails back to the wild after 15-year absence

Chester Zoo has successfully bred and released 800 lesser Bermuda snails to Nonsuch Island in Bermuda, a species feared extinct for over 15 years. The reintroduction marks the first time two snail species have been part of a coordinated breeding and release programme in Bermuda, with a further 10,000 greater Bermuda snails also returned to boost populations across nine islands.
