Female red panda cub Omari born at West Midlands Safari Park receives first health check

A female red panda cub born on 21 June 2026 to parents Mei Lin and Sanka has completed her first health check at three months old and been named Omari, meaning 'light' in Nepalese. The birth is significant as red pandas are endangered with fewer than 10,000 remaining in the wild, and the cub was born as part of an EEP (EAZA Ex-Situ Programme) conservation collaboration between European zoos.
