Bristol Zoological Society secures National Geographic funding for Tanzanian forest conservation

Bristol Zoological Society has received National Geographic funding to advance conservation work in Kimboza Forest Nature Reserve in Tanzania, focusing on protecting the Critically Endangered turquoise dwarf gecko. The project, delivered in partnership with Sokoine University of Agriculture and Tanzania Forest Service Agency, will run throughout 2027 and aims to remove 50,000 invasive cedar trees, restore 50 hectares of forest, and train 150 university students in conservation skills.
