Northern giraffe calf born at UK zoo to experienced mother Arusha

A female Northern giraffe gave birth on 20 January 2026, with keepers witnessing the rare daytime birth and the six-foot calf standing within 40 minutes. This is Arusha's fifth calf and an important milestone for the giraffe EEP breeding programme, which supports conservation of the vulnerable Northern giraffe species.
